Vernon A. ``Noby'' Jones, 50, of the 100 block of Choate St., died April 22, 1996, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
He was born in Norfolk County and worked for the Sanitation Department of the City of Portsmouth for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Outland Jones; sons Vernon Antonio Jones of Tarboro, N.C., and Varian A. Jones of Portsmouth; three sisters, Maria Jones, Phylise Jordan and Kim Jones, all of Portsmouth; four brothers, Harry Jordan, John Jordan and Ray Jones, all of Portsmouth, and Mario Jones of Kenasville, N.C.; maternal grandmother, Pettroner Jones of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; six aunts; six uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Corprew Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Horace L. Bazemore Jr. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk. Viewing will begin at noon today at the funeral home. The family will be at the home of his grandmother, Pettroner Jones, 6015 Arthur Ave., Portsmouth, and will assemble there for the funeral service.
