Jessie Hoggard Callis, 73, of the 3500 block of Sleepy Hole Road, died Friday, April 26, 1996.
She was a native of Ahoskie, N.C. She was a Baptist and a member of Women of the Moose, Suffolk Lodge, and Woodmen of the World.
She is survived by her husband, Sam L. Callis; four sons, Whitlow W. Callis and wife, Sue of Chesapeake, William H. Callis and wife, Brenda of Chesapeake, Fred W. Callis and wife, Eva of Suffolk, George Sammy Callis and wife, Susan of Suffolk; sister, Vashti Godwin of Ahoskie; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel, by the Rev. J. Robert Bennett. Burial is in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
