BRIDGE-TUNNEL WRECK INJURES DRIVERS

Two motorists were injured Friday afternoon on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel when a car and a pickup truck towing a boat and trailer collided head-on.

Lorraine Smith, spokeswoman for the bridge-tunnel, said one of the vehicles was driven by a 49-year-old man. The other driver was a 19-year-old man. Both were taken to Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Smith withheld the drivers' names until family members could be notified.

The boat and trailer came loose during the collision, and two other cars struck the rig. No one was injured in that collision, Smith said.

The accident occurred about 3:45 p.m. when a northbound Nissan Sentra swerved into the southbound lanes and collided with the Ford pickup.
