THE OUTER BANKS: A FEAST FOR THE BODY AND THE SOUL

EVERY VISITOR to North Carolina's Outer Banks has a favorite season and a favorite reason.

Some prefer the hot sun of summer. Others pick the promising days of spring. Still others favor the aloofness of autumn.

Many visit only when the fish are running. Some schedule their arrivals so they can stroll the beaches in solitude. Others want crowds and companions around for a holiday atmosphere.

But no matter why or when they come, nearly everyone discovers a special restaurant or a favorite art gallery.

Many think that the coming weeks of May are the ideal time to do just that.

Here's an update on places where you can find a feast for the body or a feast for the soul. MEMO: Two articles about art galleries and restaurants also appear on page
