They're not rolling out the red carpet, they're rolling out the
green carpet at the Virginia Beach Amphitheater, scheduled to open
May 15. Workers are busy now laying sod on the amphitheater site.
Here, Vincent Burke, left, and Kenneth Murphy of United Turf lay out
the sod in 41-inch by 50-foot rolls. In less than a month, musicians
will be entertaining crowds in the new $17.5 million, 20,000 seat
outdoor facility next to Princess Anne Park. Bruce Hornsby is the
opening act.
