James Franklin Johnson, 74, of the 200 block of Overholt Drive, died April 25, 1996. Mr. Johnson was a native of Athens, Ga.
He served in World War II with the U.S. Air Force. He received a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the College of William and Mary. He also was retired from Virginia State Health Department, where he worked as the district sanitarian.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Margaret Hazel Johnson of Virginia Beach; two sons, Charles Johnson of Greenwood, S.C., and Mark D. Johnson of Chesapeake; two daughters, Jennifer Haycox of Norfolk, and Reva Johnson of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by four sisters, Nina Hazen, Lucia Harper, Jessie Williams and Edith Cooper, all of Athens, Ga., and five beloved grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall Chapel, 5184 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Lewis McPherren at 11 am. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
