OPAL S. SIMPKINS

Opal S. Simpkins, 67, of the 300 block of Brook Ave., died April 27, 1996, in Obici Hospital.

Born in Mingo County, W.Va., Mrs. Simpkins was a housewife and the widow of Samuel Ray Simpkins. She was a member of Church of Christ, Suffolk.

She is survived by six daughters, Judy S. Saunders of Franklin, Sue S. Brinkley of Ahoskie, N.C., Paula S. Frank of Windsor, Va., Karen Byrum, Debbie Simpkins and Alice S. Hyatt, all of Suffolk; two sons, Mike R. Simpkins of Suffolk and Elliott B. Simpkins of Ivor, Va.; two sisters, Irma Maynard of Lexington, N.C., and Daphene Thornsbury of Matewan, W.Va.; two brothers, Neely Simpkins and Tabor Simpkins, both of Beech Creek, W.Va.; sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Alice Cisco and John Simpkins.

A funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. by Minister Billy Ray Boyd in Church of Christ. Burial will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home today from 3 to 4 p.m. and other times at 118 Raleigh Drive.
