Bernice Blow Futrell, 81, widow of Ruben Futrell, died April 29, 1996, in Southampton Memorial Hospital East Pavilion.
Her parents were the late Willie Thomas and Lelia Worrell Blow. She was a native of Southampton County and moved to Northampton County, N.C. She spent most of her life as a resident of Portsmouth where she worked for the U.S. Government as a clerk for six years, as a secretary with Norfolk County Schools for 12 years, and retired as deputy clerk of court with the city of Portsmouth after 15 years of service. She was a member of Sharon Methodist Church, Margarettsville, N.C.
She was predeceased by a brother, William Henry Blow. She was survived by three sisters, Gladys B. Futrell of Conway, N.C., and Bell B. Pearson and Maggie B. Vaughn of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. She is survived by four nieces and a nephew.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, by Pastor Charles W. Alvis. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, is in charge. Donations may be made to your favorite charity.
