Louise Pope Hoggard, 88, died April 29, 1996, in her home.
She was a retired teacher for Norfolk Public Schools at Norview Jr. High School. Mrs. Hoggard, a native of Newsoms, Va., was the widow of John N. Hoggard. She was a member of Norview United Methodist Church and Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.
She is survived by a daughter, Louise Hoggard McAfee of Vienna, Va.; son, John N. Hoggard Jr. of Chesapeake; two sisters, Sarah Pope Dix and Edith Pope Howitz, both of Whitestone, Va.; three brothers, William M. Pope of Norfolk, Amos Pope of College Park, Md., and Dr. Eugene Jerome Pope of Clearwater, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, Patricia Hoggard Lee and Elizabeth Hoggard Brown; and a brother, Dr. B.A. Pope Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. John F. Shappell in Norview United Methodist Church. Burial is in Rosewood Memorial Park. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. The family will receive friends in the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
