Peggie Naomi Pope, 84, died April 28, 1996, at the home of her niece, Betty Chambliss, in the 1200 block of Whitemarsh Road.
A native of Warrenton, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Samuel David and Lucy R. Bobbit Ingram. She was the widow of Clarence Pope. She was retired from Planters Peanut Co. and was a member of Greater Sweet Beulah Church where she served as Church Mother, a member of the Missionary Choir, the Lottie Jordan Missionary Circle, and the Missionary Usher Board. She was also past president of the Women's Auxiliary of Virginia State Council of Apostolic, past assistant secretary of Virginia State Council of Apostolic, past treasurer of Home Mission Department of Virginia State Council of Apostolic, member of the Women's Department of Pentecostal International Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, and she was treasurer of Sunday School of the Greater Sweet Beulah Church.
Her survivors include a foster son, Ricky Ingram of Bristol, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Della Williams of New Jersey; a brother, Walter Ingram of Buffalo, N.Y.; granddaughter, Rekeda Bradley of Suffolk; three devoted nieces, Mrs. Betty Chambliss of Suffolk, Mrs. Doris Trotman of New Jersey, and Mrs. Delois Johnson of Raleigh, N.C.; two nephews, the Rev. Samuel D. Ingram of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Walter Ingram of Raleigh, N.C.; and several other relatives and friends.
A funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in Greater Sweet Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church, 137 Maple St., Suffolk, by Dr. Madison G. Copeland. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends at the home of Mrs. Betty Chambliss, 1215 White Marsh Road, Suffolk. The remains of Mrs. Pope will lie in state from 11:30 a.m. until the hour of services. Crocker Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge.
