Dr. Willette L. LeHew will be the new rector of the community board that governs Eastern Virginia Medical School, the school announced Monday.
LeHew, 61, replaces Andrew S. Fine, whose term expires at the end of May. Fine, who has led the board for two years, will continue as a member of the board, which is formally known as the Board of Visitors of the Medical College of Hampton Roads.
LeHew is in private practice with The Group for Women and is an associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology at EVMS. He joined the board in 1992. He earned his undergraduate degree at Hampden-Sydney College and his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
Joseph A. Leafe will succeed LeHew as vice rector of the board. Leafe has served as mayor of Norfolk and as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates.
Madeline H. Sly, a longtime volunteer for local medical causes and a board member since 1993, will serve another term as secretary-treasurer. by CNB
