LAWRENCE JACKSON/The Virginian-Pilot
More than 60 planes of the Royal Air Force are taking part in joint
exercises with United States military forces in North Carolina and
off the East Coast. Above, a crewman walks Tuesday on the tarmac at
Oceana Naval Air Station under the wing of an RAF Nimrod, the
world's first land-based all-jet maritime reconaissance and
anti-submarine aircraft. Below, crew members walk away from the
RAF's Tornado GR1B, a strike/attack aircraft configured for
anti-shipping duties with a long-range, sea-skimming Sea Eagle
radar-guided missile.
