International Business Machines Corp.'s board, meeting before the company's annual meeting, authorized the repurchase of an additional $2.5 billion of common stock, the company said Tuesday. The giant New York company has bought back $6.5 billion of its stock since Jan. 31, 1995, under prior repurchase authorizations. IBM had about 543 million shares outstanding at the end of 1995. Based on Monday's closing price of $109.625 on the New York Stock Exchange, the company would repurchase about 22.8 million of its shares under the latest authorization. Minneapolis-based Target Stores will hold phone-in job fairs over the next 30 days to fill about 1,620 positions for new stores opening in the Hampton Roads, Baltimore and Washington areas in July. Most job openings are for retail associate positions, but there are many positions available for people with no prior experience, spokeswoman Susan DeNuccio said. Positions range from hourly supervisors to entry-level positions, such as cashiers, sales floor associates, warehouse associates and others. Interested applicants may call 1-800-966-4812. CI Travel, the travel agency division of Cruise International, is launching a major expansion in the Naples, Fla., market, said president and founder Richard O'Leary. Norfolk-based CI Travel already has one office in the Naples area. It has acquired three other locations there. CI Travel also plans to open another new branch and a regional Naples headquarters to oversee its operations. In its 25th year of business, CI Travel has 42 East Coast locations, including 27 agencies in southern Virginia. Others are as far away as Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Cape Canaveral, Fla. Harvey L. Lindsay Jr., who helped develop Military Circle mall in Norfolk, has been awarded the Hunter Hogan Commercial Real Estate Award. Lindsay, head of Harvey Lindsay Commercial Real Estate in Norfolk, has been in the business for more than 40 years. The Norfolk native has worked on a number of projects - everything from Dominion Tower to Waterside. The Hunter Hogan award, named after a local developer, recognizes professional excellence and ethics. Lindsay received the award last month at a conference in Richmond. (Staff) by CNB
