Barry Alan Nelson, 34, of the 2300 block of Rodgers St., died April 30, 1996, in Portsmouth.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Southeastern Public Service Authority. He was a native of Norfolk and a member of Southside Baptist Church, Chesapeake.
He is survived by his wife, Terri Lyn Nelson; two daughters, Allison Rae Nelson and Victoria Faye Nelson, both of Chesapeake; mother, Anne Z. Spain of Virginia Beach; four sisters, Cindy Nelson and Lindy Harris, both of Chesapeake, Pam Hopkins of Virginia Beach and Sharon Wilburn of Texas; four brothers, L.E. ``Doug'' Nelson of Chesapeake, Robert Nelson and Ricky Nelson, both of Norfolk, and Jerry Nelson of California; mother-in-law, Jane B. Hamer of Chesapeake; and 14 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, W.E. Spain.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. today by the Rev. Willis Switzer and the Rev. Paul D. Moore in Southside Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Burial is in Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk. Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, Chesapaeke, is in charge.
