Stephen N. ``Steve'' Tompkins, 42, of the 100 block W. City Hall Ave., died April 30, 1996.
He was a retired case manager for the Norfolk Mental Health Services, where he had worked for over 10 years. He was a born in Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C., and was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg. She was a graduate of Old Dominion University.
He is survived by his father, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Garland N. Tompkins; sister, Deborah A. Tompkins of Fairfax County, Va.; two brothers, Michael E. Tompkins of Woodbridge, Va., and Stanley E. Tompkins of Dayton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Mary E. Tompkins of Woodbridge; two nieces, Crystal and Alexis Tompkins; and many close co-workers and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in William N. Bland and Son Chapel, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg, Va. Burial will be in Dinwiddie Memorial Park. Metropolitan Funeral Service is in charge. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Norfolk Urban League.
