16 TO VIE FOR FESTIVAL TITLE WINNER OF CONTEST WILL REPRESENT CITY IN THE MISS VIRGINIA PAGEANT JUNE 28

Sixteen contestants will vie for the title of Miss Portsmouth Seawall Festival during a pageant at 8 p.m. Saturday at Western Branch High School in Chesapeake.

Lauren Kitchens, Miss Portsmouth Seawall Festival 1991, and Hugh R. Copeland, director of the Hurrah Players, will be mistress and master of ceremonies. Tracy Blizzard, Miss Portsmouth Seawall Festival 1995, the Hurrah Players and The Charisma Performing Dance Co. will provide entertainment.

The winner will represent Portsmouth at the Miss Virginia Pageant in Roanoke June 28.

The contestants are:

Angie Beale, 17, is the daughter of Barbara and John Beale. A student at Great Bridge High School, Beale will sing.

Kristine Brown, 22, is the daughter of James and Linda Brown. Brown, a Florida State University graduate, will dance.

Shante Cuffee, 17, is the daughter of Apolos and Emma Cuffee. A student a Western Branch High School, Cuffee will perform a dramatic monologue.

Karen Erway, 17, is the daughter of Craig and Diane Erway. Erway, a student at Western Branch High School, will play the flute.

Natasha Halsey, 17, is the daughter of Reginald and Felecia Halsey. A student a Deep Creek High School, Halsey will sing.

Jennifer Hartung, 17, is the daughter of Bradford and Susan Hartung. Hartung, a student at Western Branch High, will sing.

Jennifer Hillman, 20, is the daughter of Charles and Patricia Hillman. A Virginia Wesleyan College student, Hillman will tap dance.

Kelli Hunter, 17, is the daughter of Charles and Valarie Hunter. Hunter, a student at Western Branch High School, will sing.

Kwanza Jones, 24, is the daughter of O. Marion and Dorothy Jones. She is a graduate of Princeton University and will sing.

Marnie Klar, 20, is the daughter of Lawrence and Brenda Klar. Klar attends the University of Miami and will sing.

Celene Long, 17, is the daughter of Tammy and Joseph Long of Chesapeake. A Great Bridge High School student, Long will sing.

Erynn Millard, 18, is the daughter of Don and Donna Millard. The Old Dominion University student will sing.

Shannon Mueller, 19, is the daughter of David and Mary Lou Sadler. Mueller, who plans to attend Cornell University, will perform a monologue.

LaTasha Price, 20, is the daughter of George and Johnnie Price. The Hampton University student will sing.

Kathy Thomas, 18, is the daughter of Robert and Evelyn Thomas. A Western Branch High School student, Thomas will play the piano.
