SUNDAY

ON SUNDAY, EARTH DAY `96 will be celebrated in a big way in Virginia Beach. Join in the free, informative fun from noon to 7 p.m.

Who cares that the official Earth Day was more than a week ago? We should celebrate the beauty of our vulnerable planet every day. And, where better to stage an Earth Day festival than at Mount Trashmore, the region's monument to recycling? Plan on plenty of music, crafts, games and environmental exhibits. Festivities for a new age include a recycle relay. Call 473-5237.

WEEKEND

FOR CHESAPEAKE DANCER Jennifer Weidner, partnering with Bolshoi Ballet veteran Alexander Greschenko must be some thrill. It could be compared to the ecstasy her title character in the ballet ``Cinderella'' feels at the happy ending: She hooks up with the prince, played by the Russian Greschenko.

Tonight at 8 at Virginia Beach Pavilion Theater, Old Dominion Ballet is presenting the full-length romantic ballet, featuring about 50 area dancers moving to Prokofiev's music. To be repeated 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Old Dominion University Theater at 4600 Hampton Blvd., Norfolk.

Admission is $12 to $16, with discounts for senior citizens, military and groups. For tonight, tickets are available at the Pavilion box office (428-8000) or through Ticketmaster (671-8100). For ODU theater tickets, call 683-4486.

TUESDAY

IT'S GUARANTEED THAT this Cathy & Marcy concert will not be snowed out. The popular duo of Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer, who combine singing, comedy, history lessons and trick roping in children's shows, will perform on Tuesday at the Jewish Community Center of Tidewater.

Tickets for the snow-cancelled Feb. 4 concert at JCC will be honored at this show.

Cathy & Marcy have won Parents Choice awards for their music, a mix of folk, rock, blues, swing, yodeling, hammered dulcimers, steel drums and spoons. Did we mention the cowboy rope tricks?

Tickets are $6, which includes the concert at 7 p.m. and kids activities at 6 p.m. Dinner will be sold separately, starting at 6. The JCC is at 7300 Newport Ave., Norfolk. To order tickets, call 489-1371.
