S. Fulford Peele Sr., 85, died Thursday, May 2, 1996, in a Nags Head nursing home.
Mr. Peele, a native of Hatteras, was a retired captain with the N.C. Department of Transportation, Ferry Division, and a member of the Hatteras United Methodist Church. Mr. Peele was the son of the late Luther and Elizabeth Gaskill Peele and the husband of Margaret Willis Peele of the home.
Besides his wife, Mr. Peele is survived by two daughters, Winona P. Burroughs of Raleigh, N.C., and Mona P. Dickens of Hatteras; two sons, Shanklin F. ``Shankie'' Peele Jr. of Hatteras and Barry W. Peele of Virginia Beach; a sister, Eliza Ballance of Elizabeth City, N.C.; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Hatteras United Methodist Church today at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Jim Huskins, Don Brown and Dwight Burrus officiating. Burial will follow in the Quidley Cemetery, Buxton, N.C. Twiford's Island Chapel, Hatteras, is in charge.
