Charles H. Hyman Sr., 57, of the 2000 block of Rittenhouse St., died April 30, 1996, in Washington, D.C.
He formerly served with the CIA and was a manager and crytopher for Western Union for 22 years.
He was born in Portsmouth and was a member of Old Way Baptist Church, Northeast Washington, D.C.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Hyman, daughter, Serena Hyman, and son, Charles H. Hyman, all of Hyattesville; mother, Izora Bowe of Portsmouth; stepfather, Willie C. Bowe of Portsmouth; six sisters, Iris Prayer, Joyce White, Carrlette Parker, all of Portsmouth, Cynthia Smith and Essie Matthews, both of Maryland, and Jackie Seymore of Norfolk; four brothers, Leonard Bowe of Brooklyn, N.Y, Raymond R. Bowe of Indianapolis, Ind., Cornelius P. Bowe of St. Louis, Mo., James A. Bowe of Portsmouth; stepbrother, Willie E. Bowe of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; maternal grandmother, Lena Ward of Portsmouth; four grandchildren; four uncles; five aunts and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Herman L. Smith in Old Way Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Veterans Cemetery, Washington, D.C. J.B. Jenkins Funeral Home, Hyattesville, is in charge.
