A man and a teenager have been charged in the April 28 robbery of a convenience store during which a clerk was raped.
Dunte L. Ashby, 31, of the 2100 block of Cuffee St. and a 16-year-old whose name was withheld because of his age were charged with robbery, abduction, use of firearm while committing a felony and rape.
They also were charged with the robbery of a Currituck County, N.C., supermarket.
Ashby further was charged with an August 1994 robbery of a Hardee's restaurant in the Hickory section of Chesapeake.
They pair were arrested without incident Wednesday, the teenager at his home and Ashby in a motel in the Ocean View section of Norfolk.
Police said a clerk was raped and three other people were held at gunpoint during the robbery at Little Earle's grocery store in the 2600 block of South Battlefield Blvd. in the Hickory section.
One of the men pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot two customers, a man and a woman, before ordering them into one of the store's restrooms.
The customers were left in the restroom with their hands bound and mouths covered with duct tape.
The two men then forced two female clerks into the store office and removed about $5,000 from the safe.
The men took one clerk to the store's other restroom and left her there.
The other clerk was raped in the front part of the store, police said.
