PUBLIC DEMAND COULD REVERSE VETO

Does the president's veto of the bill to ban partial-birth abortion mean that this issue is resolved? Of course not. There will be a vote to override that veto, if there is enough public support. And that's the key. Our representatives passed this bill on our behalf. The president vetoed this bill on behalf of the abortion-rights lobby.

Do we as the people of the United States of America support this procedure? If we don't contact our representatives and drum up the votes to override this veto, innocent blood is on our hands, for this is still a democracy, folks. No amount of cynicism changes that tact.

My heart was broken not only by our president's action, but by the clanging bell of silence after this action. Why no public outcry? We are reliving the dark days of slavery, when the black race was deemed as less than human, we are reliving the dark days in Germany, when the Jewish race was deemed as less than human. Can't you see that?

Oh, America!
