CLARENCE T. WILKINSON

Clarence T. ``Jack'' Wilkinson, 64, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth, and the beloved husband of Jacqueline Ivey Wilkinson, died on Friday, May 3, 1996, after a long illness at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

As a young man, Mr. Wilkinson was a paratrooper in the Army Air Corps and a decorated U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Wilkinson was a retired yard master with the Belt Line Railroad where he was employed after the Korean War. He was a member of the Naval Masonic Lodge (NU)100 A.F.& A.M., Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies, and Khedive Temple of the Shrine. He was a 42-year member of the United Transportation Union and served several years as a representative. He was also a successful entrepreneur and a devoted family man.

Mr. Wilkinson is much grieved by his immediate family which includes his wife, and two daughters, Cynthia Lynn McAdoo and her husband, Timothy, and Lorie Wilkinson Xenakis and her husband, Tony. He is also survived by five grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Ivy Alexandra Garrenton, Nicholas Robert Xenakis, Gina Marie Xenakis, Coleman Wynter McAdoo and Ryan Arthur Ross Garrenton; a sister, Edith Mae Lloyd, and her daughter, Mrs. Sandra Johnson, brother-in-law, James R. Draper of Williamsburg and his son, Ronald Draper of New Jersey; and a host of loving in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Askew Wilkinson; brother, Robert A. Wilkinson; and a sister, Thelma L. Draper.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Olive Branch Cemetery with the Naval Masonic Lodge (NU)100 A.F. & A.M. officiating. Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, is handling the arrangements. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8 p.m. The family requests that all flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
