John Robert Lassiter Jr., 78, of the 2900 block of Kings Highway, died May 3, 1996, in Manning Convalescent Home.
A native of Portsmouth, he was the son of the late John R. Lassiter Sr. and Lillian Lee Lacy Lassiter. He was a retired operating engineer of heavy equipment and a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara E. Lassiter; his son, John Richard Lassiter of Hampton; a stepdaughter, Robin L. Brundage of Franklin, Pa.; two grandchildren, Devin W. and Kacie L. Lassiter; two stepgrandchildren, Heather and Ashley Brundage; his sister, Lillian L. Walker of Norfolk; a nephew, Dr. G.W. Walker and his family of Alexandria, Va.; and many cousins living locally and outside of Virginia.
Memorial services will be conducted at 6 p.m. Saturday in Beech Grove United Methodist Church by the Rev. Garland K. Hines Jr. Memorial donations may be made to the Beech Grove United Methodist Church, 4245 Driver Lane, Suffolk, Va. 23435. Baker-Foster Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
