DRIVER IS KILLED AFTER LOSING CONTROL OF TRUCK ON LASKIN ROAD

A 29-year-old man was killed Sunday morning after he lost control of the pickup he was driving and it hit a tree and turned over.

The man, who was wearing a seat belt, was heading west on Laskin Road when the accident occurred about 2:24 a.m. Police said high speed contributed to the wreck.

The small Chevrolet truck ran off the left side of the road, hit the tree and overturned. The victim was pinned inside.

The man, whose name was being withheld until relatives could be notified, died at the scene. Police said he was in the Navy.

Police have not determined if alcohol was involved.

Investigators are looking for a small red car, possibly with Pennsylvania license plates, which was seen leaving the scene shortly after the accident. There were several women in the vehicle.

A police spokesman said the people in the vehicle are not in any trouble, but investigators would like to speak with them about the wreck.

Anyone with information is asked to call 427-5616.
