GEORGE HARRISON JR.

George ``Buddy'' Harrison Jr., 75, of 3815 Magnolia Drive, died May 6, 1996, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Harrison and Mary Ransome Harrison, both of Portsmouth. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 20 years of service. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God for more than 20 years and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 27.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eloise Harrison; three daughters, Brenda Elliott, Valerie Walker, and her husband, Larry, and Shelley Harrison, all of Portsmouth; three sons, Gregory Harrison, and his wife, Vanessa, of Baltimore, Steve Harrison of Portsmouth and Michael Harrison of Jacksonville, Fla., and a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Harrison of Chesapeake; three brothers, Elwood Harrison, Donald Harrison, and his wife, Lottie, both of Portsmouth, and James Harrison, and his wife, Beulah of Chesapeake; two sisters, Catherine Smith, and her husband, Benjamin, of Chesapeake, and Mary Davis of Washington, D.C.; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and many devoted friends.

A memorial service will be conducted at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Chapel, 3920 Airline Blvd., Chesapeake, on Friday at noon. Pretlow and Sons Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The family will receive friends after the service at the family residence.
