Nellie Elizabeth Parks Hempel, 70, of the 700 block of 23rd St., died Monday, May 6, 1996, in Virginia Beach Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
She is survived by her husband, Herbert Hempel; daughter, Linda Simmons of Garner, N.C.; son, Herbert P. ``Herbie'' Hempel of Parksley; three sisters, Dacia Coleburn, Mary Ann Barton and Ernestine Overfelt; three grandchildren, Parks Hempel, Allyson Hempel and Chris Simmons.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Thornton Funeral Home, Chadbourne St., Parksley, by the Rev. Donald K. Roberts. Interment will be in Parksley Cemetery. There will be a visitation today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
