Walter Watson, 80, of the 800 block of Dillion Ave., died May 5, 1996, at DePaul Medical Center.
Mr. Watson, a native of Littletown, N.C., retired after over 20 years of service. He had been retired for 10 years. He was the widower of Rosie Watson and a member of St. Luke Baptist Church, Littletown.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat Hodge of Silver Spring, Md., and Mary Guadalupe of Virginia Beach; a son, James Watson of Norfolk; four sisters, Louise and Pattie of Baltimore, Md., Mamie Pickering of New York, N.Y., Emma Alston of Littletown; a brother, Edward Watson of New York; six grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Sam Watson.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. William Best at Zion Light Church of Christ, Norfolk. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at E.A. Hughes Funeral Home. Family will receive friends and relatives at the daughter's home, 932 Gossman Drive, Virginia Beach. A Christian wake service will be held at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. A wake will be held at the funeral home Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. At that time family will be receiving friends and relatives. The funeral procession will assemble at the home of his son, Mr. James Watson, 3508 Tait Terrance, Norfolk, at noon for the procession to the church.
