The 25th annual Student Art Show at the Visual Arts Center of Tidewater Community College will be exhibited through May 16 at the center galleries downtown.
The show includes 282 works by 156 students, and more than $2,200 in prizes were awarded. The top prize, a $200 purchase award, went to Antonio Shellman of Chesapeake for an untitled photo. Shellman also shared honors with Denise Copeland of Virginia Beach for the People's Choice Award of $100. Copeland's winning work was an oil pastel, ``After Manet.''
The show features a variety of work including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, computer imagery and mixed media. Styles range from traditional to contemporary, experimental to academic.
Judge for the show was Marlene Jack, professor in the College of William and Mary's art and history department.
The center is at 340 High St. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays.
