Leroy Hobbs, 75, of Route 1, died Thursday, May 9, 1996, in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
Mr. Hobbs was born in Gates County. The son of the late Alfred and Mrs. Lillie Ward Hobbs, he was a retired quality control inspector at the Ford Plant in Norfolk. An Army veteran of World War II, he was the past commander of the VFW; a past master of Gatesville Masonic Lodge (NU)126; a Shriner; and attended Hobbsville Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Artelia Lamb Hobbs; three daughters, Cheryl H. Hutchins of Belvidere, Gloria H. Odom of Severn, and Debbie H. Forehand of Hobbsville; one son, Wayne Hobbs of Hobbsville; eight grandchildren; one step grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hobbsville Baptist Church by the Rev. D. Steve Conerly. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and other times at the residence.
