C. MARTIN EVANS

C. Martin Evans, 69, of the 7900 block of Thompson Road, died May 9, 1996, in a local hospital.

He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and a native of Norfolk. He was a retired purification operator for the city of Norfolk and he was also an engineman for the Merchant Marine.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley J. Evans; stepdaughters, Linda M. Stevens of Waynesboro, Va., and Cheryl M. Ashley of Virginia Beach; two stepsons, Charles W. Minter of Chesapeake and Benjamin R. Minter of Norfolk; and eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister, Blanche C. McCarthy.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday by the Rev. William Amon in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, is in charge. The family will receive friends in the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m.
