Former U.S. Sen. William B. Spong Jr. will receive the Citizen-Lawyer Award from the College of William and Mary, where he served as dean of the law school. The award recognizes alumni who have distinguished themselves through outstanding public service.
Spong, a member of the William and Mary Board of Visitors, will receive the honor May 18. He has also served in the state Senate and House of Delegates, and was president of Old Dominion University. by CNB
