MILDRED C. GRIFFIN

Mildred Clayton Griffin, 75, of 42 N. Court St., died May 9, 1996, in Obici Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Anna H. Clayton. She and her husband together owned and operated Griffin's Grocery in Windsor. She was a native of Zuni, Va. and a member of Windsor Christian Church.

She is survived by her husband, Harry M. Griffin of Windsor; three daughters, Toni Y. Phillips and husband, Billy of Franklin, Becky G. Beale and husband, Jimmy of Franklin, and Bonnie G. Johnson and husband, Mike of Yucca Valley, Calif.; two sons, Robert H. Young and wife, Judy of Suffolk and Harry M. Griffin Jr. and wife, Robyn of Richmond; a brother, John R. Clayton and wife, Jean of Smithfield, Va.; nine grandchildren, Jo Anna Phillips of Alexandria, Mary Anna Phillips of Gifu, Japan, Jonathan and Matthew Beale, Justin and Sarah Johnson, Jordan and Evan Griffin, and Stephanie Young of Alexandria.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Basil Ballard in Windsor Christian Church. Burial is in Windsor Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Hill Funeral Home in Suffolk on Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home. Donations may be made to the Windsor Christian Church or to the Windsor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
