LLOYD P. PARROTT

Lloyd Pinkney Parrott, 88, died suddenly Friday afternoon May 10, 1996, while in his garden in Exmore.

He grew up near Trappe, Md., attended Goldey Business College, then came to the Eastern Shore of Virginia to teach at Exmore-Willis Wharf School for 10 years. He next worked at Dulaney's, then Benjamin's, before establishing his own accounting and insurance business in 1950, which he continued to operate until 1988.

An active member of Epworth United Methodist Church, he taught Sunday school, was lay leader, and served on the Board of Stewards, as well as the Hermitage board. The only remaining charter member of the Exmore-Belle Haven Lions Club, he was active for over 50 years. Throughout his life, he also enjoyed spending time with friends hunting and fishing. Always a family man, he was president of the PTA at Northampton High School, as well as an active attendee of many piano recitals, school plays, athletic events, and other activities his wife and daughters engaged in.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Elva Humphries Parrott; his two daughters, Barbara Parrott Berryman and Virginia Parrott Williams; three grandchildren, Jennifer Williams Phillips, Lloyd Carter Williams, and Clifford James Berryman; two great-grandchildren, Christopher Phillips and William Phillips; three sisters, Edith Smith, Ruth Evans, and Hattie Leonard; several nieces and nephews; grandson-in-law, Mel Phillips; and sons-in-law, James M. Berryman and Redford Williams.

The family will receive friends at the Doughty Funeral Home in Exmore today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The funeral will be at Epworth United Methodist Church Monday at 2 p.m. with interment at Belle Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church, Exmore.
