Billye L. Reed, 62, formerly of Chesapeake, died May 9, 1996, at Davie County Hospital, Mocksville, N.C.
Mrs. Reed retired from the data processing department of General Electric and later retired as a travel agent from Reed Cruise Center, Portsmouth. She was a native of Amonate, Va., and a member of Raleigh International Church, Cary, N.C., and former member of Union Baptist Church, Suffolk, and New Testament Church, Portsmouth.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence M. Reed Sr. of Cary; two daughters, Julia Beatrice Reed of Richmond, Va., and Eileen Reed Hunt of Cary; a son, Lawrence M. Reed Jr., and his wife, Regina W. Reed of Denver, Colo.; four brothers, Mac Looney, Rudolph Looney, and John Waterson, all of Philadelphia, and Donald Looney of Stradford, Conn.; six grandchildren, Jessica Erin, Joshua Lawrence, Jonathan Aaron, Garland Raphael, Christa Eileen and Jeremy Christian; and a host of sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday by Elder C.H. Bowens II at New Testament Church, 403 Rapidan St., Portsmouth. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The family will be at 109 Shadow Bend Lane, Cary, until Monday. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon Monday. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday for the funeral.
