Larry Burnley Powell, 82, of the 1300 block of W. Longwood Drive, died May 11, 1996, in his residence.
Mr. Powell, a clerk, retired in 1974 from Norfolk and Western Railroad. He was the widower of Muriel Hanna Powell, a native of Norfolk, and a graduate of Maury High School. He was a member of Larchmont Baptist Church, Norfolk, a member of Owens Masonic Lodge (NU)161, and a member of the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks Union.
Survivors include a daughter, Shelia G. Powell of Norfolk; a son, Edwin B. Powell of Norfolk; two sisters, Estelle Sullivan of Norfolk, and Majorie Parker of Richmond, Va.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. John C. Dean at Larchmont Baptist Church, Norfolk. Burial, at a later date, will be private. Friends may join the family at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for visitation.
