Harold William Miller Jr., 69, of the 1700 block of Inez Lane, died May 11, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mr. Miller, a native of Portsmouth, was retired from the U.S. Navy in 1979 as a chief storekeeper after 32 years of service, and was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He currently served as a chaplain for the Chesapeake Police Department. He was the widower of Evade E. ``Betty'' Miller.
He was a member of Washington-Lafayette Masonic Lodge 176; Fellowship Masonic Lodge 148; Portsmouth Scottish Rite Bodies; Hella Shrine; Tall Cedars; Law Enforcement Square Club 2002; and the International Conference of Police Chaplains.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan M. Skinner of Chesapeake; and a grandson, Scott Skinner.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Aldersgate United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert F. Cofield Jr. and the Rev. Scott M. Rimer. Entombment, with military honors and Masonic rites will be in Meadowbrook Mausoleum, Suffolk. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Home of Virginia.
