Police are asking for help in solving these cases: NORFOLK

Two men robbed S&S Retail and the New York New York Fashion store at the Wards Corner mall in the 7500 block of Granby St. at 3 p.m. on April 30.

The two men, wearing masks, entered the stores together. In each case, they took cash and merchandise before fleeing in a stolen 1984 burgundy Oldsmobile.

As they fled, they were confronted by an off-duty Norfolk police officer. Shots were fired, but no one was injured.

The suspects abandoned the car, and police recovered it a few blocks from the mall.

Both suspects were described as black men. The first was 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He wore a white mask and black clothing.

The second was 5 feet 8 and 145 pounds. He was wearing a black mask and dark clothing. VIRGINIA BEACH

A main GTE fiber-optic phone cable was deliberately cut in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake on May 1 about 10:30 p.m.

Phone service from Great Bridge in Chesapeake to Shipps corner in Virginia Beach, including the 911 emergency system, was temporarily unavailable until backup systems were activated.

Investigators and GTE officials have determined that the cable was cut in two places along Elbow Road near Indian River Road.

The First Virginia Bank of Tidewater branch in the 5200 block of Princess Anne Road was robbed about 9:20 a.m. Friday.

A man approached a teller, displayed a handgun and demanded money. He was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.

The suspect is described as black, in his late 20s to early 30s, 5 feet 7 to 5 feet 9 inches tall, 160 to 180 pounds, with a medium build. He had a mustache and goatee and wore a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, light-colored pants and a tan fishing hat.

The same man is wanted for the robbery of the Signet Bank branch in the 900 block of Diamond Springs Road on April 23 at 10:15 a.m., and for the robbery of the Albano Cleaners at Providence Square Shopping Center at Kempsville and Providence roads on Thursday at 2:25 p.m.

Investigators believe this man may be responsible for similar robberies in neighboring cities. CHESAPEAKE

The sheriff's office fugitive squad is looking for two suspects.

Santoine Saunders, 19, is wanted for failing to appear in court for sentencing on a possession of cocaine charge.

Saunders is described as black, 5 feet 10 and 164 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He frequents the Broadlawn area of Chesapeake.

Randolph S. Wright, 24, is wanted for a probation violation stemming from a distribution of cocaine charge.

Wright is described as black, 5 feet 8 and 175 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is known to frequent the Crestwood and Lake Village sections of Chesapeake. SUFFOLK

A large number of firearms were stolen from a home in the 5900 block of Bradford Drive on or about April 4.

The burglars stole about 10 handguns, most of which were black powder guns, among them a Smith & Wesson .357, a Marlin .22-caliber revolver and eight other guns, ranging from .31 to .44 caliber. HAMPTON

On April 10, about 2 p.m., two men entered an office on the 12th floor of the Harbor Center at 2 Eaton St. They left moments later. Shortly after, a laptop computer was discovered missing.

The first suspect is described as black, in his mid-20s, 5 feet 4 inches, and thin. He had long sideburns and a mustache.

The second man is described as black, in his mid-20s, 6 feet 2 inches and 300 pounds, with a thin mustache.
