Hilary L. Dickens, 43, departed this life on Saturday, May 11, 1996.
He was a member of Messiah Baptist Church in Newport News. Mr. Dickens was a 1970 graduate of Huntington High School, a graduate of Atlantic Airline School in Hartford, Conn., and was employed as a customer service representative for USAir.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Slade Dickens; two daughters, Melanie Dickens and Ashley Dickens, all of the home; mother and father, William and Lillie Augburn, both of Newport News; three sisters, Patricia Augburn of Hampton, Wanda Rogers and Valeria Walker of Newport News; and a host of relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church with the Rev. Daniel Baltimore, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Ray Cemetery. Viewing will begin at 6 p.m. today at Poole's Funeral Home and a wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Friends may assemble at 239 Chippokes Farm Road, Surry, by 12:15 p.m. Wednesday.
