Edna White Carroll, 81, of Creeds, died Monday, May 13, 1996, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
She was a native of Knotts Island, N.C., and was the widow of James Adrian Carroll Sr. She was retired as an elder care-giver, helping to take care of the elderly in her community. She was a former postal carrier and Avon lady. She was a member of The Church of Christ at Creeds, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was one of the founding members of the Creeds Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by five daughters, Alice White, Adelia ``Tina'' Walker, and Nellie Ann Leonardson, all of Virginia Beach, Adelaide Price of Okeechobee, Fla., and Adell Eden of Sinton, Texas; three sons, Sidney Dean Carroll of Tarboro, N.C, James A. ``Jimmy'' Carroll Jr. of Chesapeake, and Robert A. ``Bobby'' Carroll Sr. of Virginia Beach; three sisters, Ida Jean Cason, Jeanette Cason, and Virginia Jones, all of Knotts Island; three brothers, Lloyd White and Alfred White, both of Knotts Island, and Warren White of Grand Prairie, Texas; a former daughter-in-law, Marie Pomeroy of Virginia Beach; 34 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, ``Jamie'' Carroll; her sons, Richard B. Carroll Sr. and John D. Carroll Sr.; two brothers, Ira White and Vincent White; and a grandson, David White.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, at 2 p.m. in The Church of Christ at Creeds, 5500 Morris Neck Road by John J. Boyer, pastor, and the Rev. Frank Jennings. Burial will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Maestas Funeral Home, Baltic Avenue Chapel.
