John Henry Wyndham, 76, formerly of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Monday, May 13, 1996, in the Autumn Care Nursing Home, Norfolk.
Born Oct. 20, 1919, in Martinsburg, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles and Audra Smith Wyndham. He was retired, a U.S. Army chief warrant officer for 23 years, later an accountant for the U.S. government. He was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church; a 1963 graduate of Shepherd College; and was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of the 6th Field Artillery Veterans Association; a member of Newton D. Baker Post (NU)896, V.F.W.; Martinsburg Lodge (NU)120; Loyal Order of Moose and was an honorary lifetime member of Council (NU)1169, Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by two daughters, Audra Spechio and her husband, Anthony Jr., of Virginia Beach, with whom he resided, and Mary Catherine Wyndham of Norfolk; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Sibole Wyndham, mother of his daughters; a second wife, Lillian Levy Wyndham; and two brothers, Robert and Charles Wyndham.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said Wednesday at noon from St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Martinsburg, W.Va., with the Rev. John V. DiBacco Jr., celebrant. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, supplied information.
