William T. ``Sweet Pea'' Carter, 68, of the 200 block of Bowman Ave., died May 12, 1996, in Norfolk.
He was retired from the planning and estimating department at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a native of Columbia, S.C., and was a Methodist.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Pease Carter; two sons, Michael Thomas and wife, Lisa Carter, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C. and Patrick Wayne Carter of Virginia Beach; and a granddaughter, Nicole Danielle Carter of Kill Devil Hills.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Allen Reifsnyder in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. The family will receive friends in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, Virginia Beach, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The family has requested memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association.
