Russell M. Pope, 68, of the 900 block of London Blvd., died May 11, 1996, in Beverly Manor of Portsmouth.
He was a retired ship-loader for F.S. Royster Company and was a native of Como, N.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by a sister, Frances Palmer of Berkley, Calif.; brother, Wilmer Pope Jr. of Berkley; four nieces; two nephews; cousins, in-laws, and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday by the Rev. Andrew Chapman in Corprew Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, Portsmouth. Viewing at the funeral home will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and they will assemble at the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Thursday for the funeral service.
