James Galvin Jr., 61, of the 2300 block of Vincent Ave., died May 10, 1996, in Norfolk.
He was retired since 1985. Mr. Galvin was a native of Rocky Mount, N.C. and a member of Garden of Prayer (NU)3. He was a member of the Umpire Association for the city of Norfolk, Chairman of Deacons, and a member of the male and gospel choirs.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Galvin; two daughters, Arnetta Waters of Norfolk and Tania Kelley of Bridgeport, Conn.; two sons, James Galvin III of Houston, Texas and Vincent Galvin of Athens, Ga.; four sisters; 11 grandchildren; four godchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday by Elder William Dan White in Garden of Prayer (NU)3. A wake will be held today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Pretlow and Sons' Funeral Home.
