An argument between two fishermen over whose catch was bigger ended with one angler being shot in the foot, police said.
The shooting occurred after Arthur T. Boone, 57, and Robert E. Featherston, 63, returned from a trip to a pier on the James River, police said.
Police gave this account:
The men argued Saturday after returning to Boone's home on South Wellons Street. They drank some gin, then Featherston went to his home on South Sixth Street.
On Sunday, Featherston returned to Boone's house, where the argument and drinking resumed. About 1:45 p.m., Featherston went upstairs, got a shotgun and allegedly blasted his friend in the right foot.
Featherston was treated in the emergency room of Obici Hospital. Boone was charged with malicious wounding and using a firearm during a felony.
