The Commonwealth Transportation Board has tentatively approved federal funding to renovate a historic train station on Main Street.
Save Our Station officials were notified that the project was number 16 on a list of 33 in the state recommended to receive funds through the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act this year. Final notification will be made June 20.
The Suffolk project is expected to receive $240,000, which would allow local officials to remodel the former CSX depot into a railroad museum and visitors center. The city and SOS would each contribute $20,000. by CNB
