Edna Louise Bond Underwood, 85, went home to be with the Lord on May 13, 1996.
She resided with her daughter at 1463 Mercer Road, Gloucester Point. She was a native of Nansemond County. Mrs. Underwood was a member of Newington Baptist Church, Gloucester, and a former member of Sedley Baptist Church, Sedley, Va.
Mrs. Underwood was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Underwood. Survivors include two daughters, Loretta Kay U. Jackson, and her husband, Jack, of Kill Devil Hills, N.C., Betty U. Hayes, and her husband, Rod, of Gloucester Point; two sisters, Virginia Stephenson of Smithfield, Ruth Holladay of Newport News; five grandchildren, Randy Jackson of Sedley, Meg and Jeff Jackson of Franklin, Field and Cameron Shepherd of Gloucester Point.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Smithfield, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in St. Luke's Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and suggests memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, Lebanon, Tenn. 37087 or Sedley Baptist Church, 17432 First Street, Sedley, 23878.
