Pier fishing along the northern beaches was slow Tuesday.
Very little was caught on Kitty Hawk Pier.
Avalon Pier reported a few bluefish landed during the morning. Several bluefish also were taken throughout the afternoon.
Several sea mullet were caught from Nags Head Pier during the day.
Anglers on Outer Banks Pier caught a few bluefish early in the morning, but very little the remainder of the day.
South of Oregon Inlet, a few sea mullet and other small bottom fish were landed by fishermen on Rodanthe Pier.
Avon Pier reported scattered spot, croaker and sea mullet taken.
Fishing was slow on Frisco Pier.
Surf fishing was only mediocre along the northern beaches. Some small bottom fish, gray trout and a few small blues were landed around Oregon Inlet.
Rough surf hindered action along the beach from Rodanthe to Buxton. Some small bottom fish, a few blues and an occasional gray trout were taken from deeper, protected sloughs.
Fishing was slow Monday night and Tuesday at Cape Point.
Action also was minimal along the south beach and from Ramp 55 to Hatteras Inlet.
Some small bluefish were landed by charters trolling around Oregon Inlet.
Blue water action off Oregon Inlet was fair. Each boat landed between 5 and 16 yellowfin tuna and a few dolphin. Action was centered near the Diamond Shoals tower, and also the 40680 Loran line. Blue marlin were released by the Gannet and the First Crack.
Yellowfin tuna, some gaffer dolphin and scattered wahoo were landed by the Hatteras charter fleet. A white marlin was released by the Fin Fantasy.
The water temperature was 56 degrees Tuesday at the Army Corps of Engineers Pier in Duck, and 64 degrees at Frisco Pier on Hatteras Island. by CNB
