WORKSHOP - NORFOLK AND ITS FUTURE

In an effort to increase community involvement in the shaping of Norfolk's future, and to mine the ideas and expertise of its citizens, the city is hosting the first ``Neighbors All'' workshop on June 1.

``Neighbors All: A Conversation About Norfolk and its Future'' will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Lake Taylor High School and will last approximately four hours.

The community visioning day has two major purposes: to build community involvement in shaping Norfolk's future by providing a forum to talk and listen to each other; and to help City Council better understand its citizens' needs in order to make city government more responsive to them.

``Communities across the country have held similar events with much success,'' Mayor Paul D. Fraim said. ``This gives our residents a chance to exchange and share ideas about their community, with their neighbors - wherever they live in Norfolk.

``We are eager to hear how our residents visualize the future of their city - we want to know what's good about Norfolk and how we can make it the best place to live, work, learn and play.''

Participants will break into small discussion groups to talk about the city's present and future. They will reconvene and listen to feedback from other groups. The results of this session will be analyzed and compiled into a report that will be distributed to all participants, city departments, and civic and business organizations.

Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the small discussion groups, record comments and report their group's thoughts. Lunch will be provided to all participants. For further information and to register, call 664-4253. by CNB
