According to Norfolk State University officials, the gross revenue generated from the Tim Reid Celebrity Weekend, April 25-28, was $160,000.
The money is used to provide scholarships for deserving Norfolk State students.
The event is an outgrowth of what began six years ago as the Tim Reid Celebrity Tennis Tournament.
``This is one of the ways in which I can help others, by helping the institution that was so instrumental in launching my career,'' said Reid, an actor and 1968 Norfolk State graduate. ``Norfolk State took me in and gave me an outstanding education back in the '60s, when other higher educational institutions were not likely to do so.'' by CNB
