I applaud City Manager James K. Spore's decision in response to SPSA's attempt to charge for recycling.
Throughout the nation, companies and individuals are making a nice profit from recycling.
People have found ``gold in them thar hills.'' In a free-enterprise society, any company, including SPSA, that cannot manage the enterprise in a profitable manner should be put out of business.
As a taxpayer, I would prefer to take my aluminum cans to Reynolds (which will pay me), my paper to the nearby school collection bin (for profitable income to the school association) and my glass and plastics (regardless of color) to the city center (for additional income to the city) rather than open another Pandora's box of taxation.
